Thank You to Our Heroes

Over the past several weeks, we’ve witnessed a global pandemic that has raised a humanitarian challenge that continues to evolve daily. While it’s been difficult, it also has been heartening to see our teams rise to the occasion to care for the communities we serve at a time of critical need. A group of everyday heroes – from tech support to environmental services, all the way to our health care professionals. We come together as one to extend the healing ministry of Christ.

As the cases continue to increase, our commitment to protect the well-being of our team members takes precedence. To live up to this commitment, we’ve made provisions to ensure we’re doing our part to #flattenthecurve and keep our team members and communities healthy and safe.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to our nurses and medical staff who are working tirelessly to fight this pandemic. We thank them for their dedication to living out our mission day in and day out. To assure their health and safety are top of mind, all COVID-19 related visits, diagnosis, testing and treatment will be covered at 100% of the cost for all AdventHealth team members and family members covered by the AdventHealth Employee Health Plan. As an added benefit to our care teams, AdventHealth has partnered with Bright Horizons to provide in-home child care nationally in response to the widespread school closures. This way, our team members can come to work knowing their family members are in safe hands.

Additionally, AdventHealth recognizes the fear of financial uncertainty that may be impacting our team members due to decreased demands related to the pandemic. We stand by our promise to keep our team members whole and continue to provide opportunities available within our organization. A redeployment team will work to identify impacted team members and reassign them to new roles based on existing needs. Through this redeployment, each team member can rest assured they will continue to receive pay throughout the estimated COVID-19 time frame.

Across our hospitals, clinics, skilled nursing facilities, physician practices, home health agencies and hospice centers we’ve implemented immediate enhanced safety and cleanliness protocols to ensure we provide a safe and healing environment. To help further limit exposure to the virus, we’ve strongly encouraged all non-patient facing care teams to work remotely, cut non-essential travel until further notice and implemented social distancing measures. We are grateful for our IT teams for working diligently to manage our system’s capability to support a large number of team members working from home securely. With their help, we are able to seamlessly transition to virtual meetings using video/telephone conferencing capabilities and limiting in-person meetings.

Through all this, we are reminded that together, we are greater as a whole. For this reason, we continue to actively hire top talent to join our team of compassionate caregivers. Our recruitment and leadership teams are committed to providing candidates with a safe and memorable experience amid these circumstances. In that spirit, all hiring and interviews have transitioned to virtual events. Candidates are welcome to connect through virtual chats, participate in virtual facility tours and attend virtual interviews. We are grateful for these innovative resources that help us to maintain a sense of personal connection with potential team members as we navigate this situation.

While our teams face these challenging times, we remain devoted to keeping their emotional well-being healthy. From complete access to emotional support resources, daily prayer services and complimentary counseling, we are here for them now more than ever. It's also important to remember that communication is key during these critical times. With that in mind, we continue to partner with government officials and our health care professionals communicate to our teams frequently and keep them well informed. Crisis Response teams have been established across the organization to prepare for any and all instances that may unfold during the expanding pandemic.

As we continue to navigate through this evolving pandemic, our mission, vision and values remain steadfast. We are reminded of our faith and that we are in this together. Our teams of heart healers, joy givers, spirit boosters and soul soothers are what makeup AdventHealth. Our everyday heroes, doing what they do best; extending the healing ministry of Christ.
