    About the Area

    The village of La Grange, a suburb of Chicago, is a village in Cook County, Illinois with a population of nearly 16,000 residents. La Grange is only 16 miles west of Chicago, or a 30-minute train ride on the Metra. From its variety of ethnic restaurants, craft shows and boutiques, to the nearby Salt Creek Trail and Bemis Woods Forest Preserve, the quaint town of La Grange harbors a true small town feel with a variety of opportunities and events.

    • La Grange is home to a variety of annual events like the Endless Summerfest,  West End Art Festival, and Hometown Holiday. 
    • La Grange is served by Lyons Township High School. It has an enrollment of more than 4,000 students and consistently is ranked among the top schools in Illinois.

    • La Grange maintains 78.5 acres of parkland throughout 11 locations, and offers over 1,500 recreation programs annually for its residents.

    • Since 1947, La Grange has held an annual Pet Parade through downtown. Grand marshals for the parade have included LBJ’s daughter Luci Baines Johnson, “The Partridge Family” stars Susan Dey and Danny Bonaduce, and elephants and donkeys from Brookfield Zoo.

    • Brookfield Zoo is located just two miles from La Grange at First Avenue and 31st Street in Brookfield, Illinois.

    • There are plenty of places to browse for art and antiques in La Grange, including the Jackson Square Mall, a collection of antiques dealers.
